it's time to walk

Support Autism Awareness

Please join me in bringing awareness by supporting me as I walk the walk!

Why I'm Walking

A year and a half ago I entered my first Learning Center for a day of substitute teaching, which turned into two months, which turned into a year. I rememebr vividly as I saw a non-verbal student using a device to communicate with an EPA. I wanted to try! I was completely blown away by the complex conversation that we had, the laughs we shared, and the amazing abilities of this student. This was my "ah-ha moment". I realized in this moment that challenges don't mean deficit, but rather they mean different. Now I work with and teach students with autism daily. No one of these students are the same, and the continually teach me to think differently and creatively, just as they do.

“I am different, not less.”
—Temple Grandin, animal behavior expert and author of The Autistic Brain

1 in 5 boys and 1 in 7 girls are now diagnosed with autism, which means that we collectively need to make an effort to raise awareness and financially support programs that enable ALL young people to learn and thrive.

Please help me to raise awareness and support systems for families and individuals affected by autism!
