Different not less, Brave not broken!

I am the head of Team Brave which was inspired by the Disney movie brave quote.

"Some say our destiny is tied to the land, as much a part of us as we are of it. Others say fate is woven together like a cloth, so that one's destiny intertwines with many others. It's the one thing we search for, or fight to change. Some never find it. But there are some who are led."

Fate has given us a uniting force, and Team Brave is exactly what the name implies, a group of adults and those who support them rallying to raise awareness and funds to ensure that we continue to have a safe place to be brave in a world that can sometimes be overwhelming. Annapolis Valley Autism Society provides us with a safe haven and supports us no matter what.

Just like when I was invited as a special Olympic athlete to compete in figure skating at the Canada games in 2015, I knew that when I skated that day that they had the live feed going in our new Autism Center and I knew no matter what they were cheering me on and that they were proud no matter where I placed. This support has continued throughout my skating career and is one of the main reasons I am able to continue skating is because of the Autism center and their support in my life (on and off the ice).

Annapolis Valley Autism is exactly that a cheering section for bad days and good days no matter what the challenge. So I hope you consider donating even a little bit so not only the adults but the children with Autism in the Annapolis Valley can continue to be supported and loved.

Why I'm Walking

To let the world see that children who have autism grow into beautiful brave adults who despite their challenges (we are each so beautifully unique each of us faces sometimes similar but different challeges in life), choose to engage in the world and LIVE their lives in the best way they can. I am walking because I have choosen to engage in a world that includes these beautiful people and the wonderful people who suport and love us.
